Eileen is a marriage and family therapist specializing in women's issues, grief, and trauma. Her clinical work is grounded in the grand theory of Symbolic Interactionism and an embodied, strengths-based, and collaborative approach to care. She is the author of the book To Tend and To Hold: Honoring Our Bodies, Our Needs, and Our Grief Through Pregnancy and Infant Loss, which is initiating a powerful cultural shift in how we understand this sensitive and largely invisible topic and how we support those who endure it.
Eileen holds a master of science in marriage and family therapy from Northwestern University and is certified as a DONA International postpartum doula, trauma-informed yoga teacher, and grief educator. She is currently completing her doctorate in Marital and Family Therapy at Loma Linda University where her work focuses on standardizing trauma-informed perinatal bereavement care in the healthcare system. As a leading voice in the field of perinatal loss and grief, Eileen lectures extensively for universities, hospitals, and trainings including the UCI Sue & Bill Gross School of Nursing, Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, and Sutter Health. As a bereaved mother and a mother to three living children, Eileen is especially passionate about supporting all who give birth and are postpartum-both after live births and after loss. |
