What is Trauma-Informed Yoga Psychology?
Trauma-Informed Yoga Psychology is a lens dedicated to integrating yoga’s roots with modern psychology theories & concepts, for all individuals. These practices can be integrated both on & off the mat and support practitioners in developing a trauma-informed lens to be integrated into all offerings, including studios. Most importantly, this lens is dedicated to amplifying & celebrating the ancient wisdom tradition of yoga.
What are the eight limbs of yoga?
The eight limbs of yoga, as outlined by Patanjali, include Yama (ethical codes), Niyama (soulful living), Asana (physical forms), Pranayama (breath control & present moment awareness), Pratyahara (withdrawal of senses), Dharana (mindfulness & concentration), Dhyana (meditation), and Samadhi (bliss & joy).
Who is this training for?
This training is ideal for anyone looking to deepen their yoga practice, become certified yoga teacher, and learn accessible ways to integrate trauma-informed principles into their offerings.
How does this training support trauma-informed practices?
Our curriculum is designed to create a supportive and inclusive environment. We focus on understanding trauma, its impact on the body and mind, and how to incorporate trauma-informed principles into yoga teaching.
Would the 200-hour YTT allow me to work at most yoga studios?
Yes! Our 200-hour training meets Yoga Alliance requirements, which is what most studios look for. We also honour that every studio has its own culture and values, and this training offers a strong, transferable foundation rooted in trauma-informed and relational care.
Do I need prior yoga experience?
200-Hour YTT: While prior experience is beneficial, it is not required. We welcome students of all levels who are dedicated to anti-oppression, anti-racism, and looking to deepen practices to support decolonial care.
300-Hour Certification: This certification is open to anyone who has previously completed a 200-hour YTT or someone seeking a 200-hour YTT + an additional 100 hours. If you goal is to become a RYT-500 with Yoga Alliance, you will need to first become a RYT-200. We welcome students of all levels who are dedicated to anti-oppression, anti-racism, and looking to deepen practices to support decolonial care.
Prenatal Certification: While prior experience is beneficial, it is not required. If your goal is to become a RPYT with Yoga Alliance, you will need to first become a RYT-200. We welcome students of all levels who are dedicated to anti-oppression, anti-racism, and looking to deepen practices to support decolonial care.
Kids & Teens Certification: While prior experience is beneficial, it is not required. If your goal is to become a RCYT with Yoga Alliance, you will need to first become a RYT-200. We welcome students of all levels who are dedicated to anti-oppression, anti-racism, and looking to deepen practices to support decolonial care.

We share all tuition details clearly on each of the training pages, including tuition specials, early-bird options, and payment plans. Our intention is balance accessibility with sustainability, ensuring our faculty are cared for while keeping the training tuition as affordable as possible.

What is the format of the training?
200-Hour YTT: The 200-hour training includes 4 virtual weekends, live via Zoom + 3 self-paced courses + readings
Prenatal Certification: This 85-hour certification includes 2 virtual weekends, live via Zoom + 2 self-paced courses + readings
Kids & Teens Certification: This 95-hour certification includes 3 virtual weekends, live via Zoom + 2 self-paced courses + readings
300-Hour Certification: This 300-hour certification combines 6 virtual weekends, live via Zoom + 1 self-paced course + readings
Are the trainings virtual?
Yes! All of our live learning is via Zoom, as it enables us to welcome folks from across the globe to come together as a learning community, often leading to lasting relationships!
I am in the US, can I still attend and become certified?
Yes! Our trainings are open to folks internationally, and we are grateful to have alumni from the USA, UK, New Zealand, Central America, and Canada. Certification travels with you, while professional scope and insurance will depend on where you live and practice.
What hours would I need to be available for live sessions?
Live sessions are usually on weekends, often Friday evenings with Saturday and Sunday daytime sessions, all in Mountain Time. Full schedules are available on each training webpage.
I need to miss a live session due to a prior commitment, can I still enroll in the training?
Yes ~ While we ask folks to commit to all live sessions, we understand that there might be portions that need to be missed. We require missed sessions to be pre-planned with Alex. Students enrolled will have access to all of the live recordings and will be required to make-up missed sessions.
