Tân'si, Hello!
Be who you needed when you were younger. This message guides me. As an Indigenous, Nehiyaw member of the Métis Nation of Alberta, it is a joy to walk alongside incredible souls who are dedicated to self-awareness & community care. My daily eight limb yoga practice support me in allowing truth (satya) to flow and deepen my lifelong yoga studentship. I honour my ᓀᐦᐃᔭᐍ Nehiyawe (Cree) culture, by learning to speak Nehiyawe, sitting with Elders/Knowledge Keepers, and decolonizing myself by infusing spirit into everything. Much of my career has been dedicated to supporting kids, teens, & families in finding ways to enhance their relationships. Kids & Teens are our future, so when you have an opportunity to walk alongside them or practice yoga with them, do it! From a nurturing attachment-based approach, we will explore how to integrate yoga and psychology, on and off the mat. As a psychologist & assistant professor, I have the privilege of destigmatizing mental health through offering accessible yoga, workshops, & contributing to academic literature/research #nerdalert Looking forward to learning and most importantly, unlearning, with you... when the time is right! With goodness, Dr. Melissa Jay (she/her) |
