Introduction of Program Frameworks & Guiding Philosophies
- Panchamaya Koshas: Explores the five layers of human existence - Annamaya Kosha (Physical Body), Pranamaya Kosha (Energy Body), Manomaya Kosha (Mental Body), Vijnanamaya Kosha (Wisdom Body), and Anandamaya Kosha (Bliss Body), and their integration into yoga nidra practice.
Grounding in Teachings
- Understanding the Theory and Practice of Yoga Nidra: Students will learn the historical and philosophical roots of yoga nidra, focusing on its application in modern therapeutic settings.
- Integrating Yoga Nidra into Therapeutic Settings: Techniques for using yoga nidra to promote stress reduction, deep relaxation, and overall well-being in clients.
- Developing Personalized Yoga Nidra Scripts: Guidance on creating customized yoga nidra scripts tailored to the specific needs of clients, utilizing insights from the Panchamaya Koshas.

Dr. Melissa Jay is an Indigenous, Nehiyaw-Métis member of the Métis Nation of Alberta. The physical location of Canmore Counselling & the Trauma-Informed Yoga Psychology is in the beautiful Rocky Mountains, which is considered Treaty 7 land and home of Métis Nation of Alberta, Region III, and the traditional territory of the Îyârhe Nakoda, including the Bearspaw, Chiniki, and Wesley First Nations, as well as the Tsuut’ina First Nation, and the Blackfoot Confederacy, including the Siksika, Piikani, and Kainai First Nations. At Canmore Counselling, we are also privileged to be yoga students, practitioners, and guides.
