Choose yourself & do it! You could never regret this experience. Melissa & the amazing folks at the Trauma Informed Yoga Psychology School are not only incredible yoga psychology practitioners but are truly extraordinary humans, who have such a beautiful connection with their students that you feel welcomed and at home from the moment you sign up. I have learned so much professionally, but what really caught me off guard was how much I've learned about myself personally from this experience! This training is not just for those wanting to teach. Everyone can benefit from this training---you will grow in a multitude of ways. It truly will transform you, and you will be so grateful for the knowledge and growth! ~ Janine Keagan, 200-Hour Alumni

This yoga school completely embodies the 8 limbs of yoga and as a result, the students learn how to take these ancient teachings and apply them in their lives in a way that does not culturally appropriate. The focus on mind, body, spirit and heart honours each individual’s life journey. I would highly recommend this training to anyone who would like a deeper understanding of the teachings, beliefs and medicine of yoga and how this is integral in health and well-being. ~ Kathleen, 200-Hour Alumni

There are no words to truly describe the 300 hour Trauma-Informed Yoga Psychology School's teacher training. This training was on all levels life changing, the faculty and the learnings are incredible. Through this training I not only learned how to support others in their journey; I was also able to step more into myself and my sense of being. There are really no words, just all the feels. ~ Rachel, 300-Hour Alumni

I am a big advocate of the Canmore Counselling - Trauma Informed Yoga Psychology School and all of their offerings! The 2020 global pandemic provided the greatest backdrop for this educational opportunity. While navigating this traumatic time, it was extremely beneficial to learn different theories and tools used for healing. My goal was to complete a 200 YTT however the Trauma Informed Yoga Psychology School provided so much more. This training felt like I was starting a university degree in Self-Awareness/Self-Development. The dynamic and talented faculty delivered inspiring teaching and encouragement. And, our class was nurtured so well we took topics and conversation to new depths. The whole experience has opened my eyes to a curious way of being. Forever GRATEFUL. ~Michelle Backhouse, 500-hour Alumni

The 300-Hour Trauma-Informed Yoga Psychology School's teacher training was a magically authentic experience. With the uncertainty and difficulty of 2020, this training helped me not only find connection to an amazing yoga community, but also to myself. The teachers reignited my love of yoga and psychology and created a sense of confidence within me as I move forward within both these fields. I cannot recommend this training enough for anyone who is feeling stuck and looking for inspiration and a community! ~ Anissa Vandezande, 300-Hour Alumni
✨✨✨✨✨
I would suggest that they will learn about how yoga lives within them, and how it is to teach from a place of honest, authentic purpose. Taking this training I not only learned how it is the most important to show up for yourself first, but also felt empowered to live my life that way. The people this course attracts are such wise, strong, and curious people. You're in for a good ride! ~Nicola Davies, 300-Hour Alumni

✨✨✨✨✨
I decided to take the 300hr training very soon after completing my 200hr YTT as I was feeling called to continue my learning. I am so pleased that I did this training. It is for sure an investment, but I gained so much more than a 300hr YTT certificate. I have a group of friends that I feel deeply connected to, and I have participated in a learning and growth journey that I will always cherish. I have felt entirely supported by the faculty and peers to deepen my understanding of myself, and I have noticed that I'm more able to show up authentically when I teach and connect with others. For me, what I most valued about this training is that the blend of psychology, yoga, and social justice was so aligned with my own personal values. I feel more confident in who I am as a yoga teacher and also as a human being. I couldn't recommend this training more. ~ Tanya Beetham, 500-hour Alumni

Dr. Melissa Jay is an Indigenous, Nehiyaw-Métis member of the Métis Nation of Alberta. Canmore Counselling is located Châ Ûpchîchîyen Kudebi (translated from Îyârhe Nakoda as “shooting at the willows”), colonially known as Canmore. The physical location of Canmore Counselling & the Trauma-Informed Yoga Psychology is in the beautiful Rocky Mountains, which is considered Treaty 7 land and home of Métis Nation of Alberta, Region III, and the traditional territory of the Îyârhe Nakoda, including the Bearspaw, Chiniki, and Wesley First Nations, as well as the Tsuut’ina First Nation, and the Blackfoot Confederacy, including the Siksika, Piikani, and Kainai First Nations. As an act of reconciliation and commitment to decolonization, we are committed to the TRC's Calls to Action.
At Canmore Counselling, we are also privileged to be yoga students, practitioners, and guides. Our offerings centre on the root of yoga as Indigenous to South Asia, and we are grateful to learn from and amplify the South Asian practitioners and teachers whenever possible. We are grateful for the eight limbs of yoga, as taught by Patanjali. It is a joy to walk alongside our incredible alumni of the Trauma-Informed Yoga Psychology School as they create opportunities for care, connection & curiosity within their communities.
We believe wholeheartedly that community, social justice, decolonization, anti-oppression, and anti-racism are inherent to trauma-informed care. Thank you for being here.
