Tân'si, Hello!
Be who you needed when you were younger. This message guides me. As an Indigenous, Nehiyaw member of the Métis Nation of Alberta, it is a joy to walk alongside incredible souls who are dedicated to self-awareness & community care. My daily eight limb yoga practice support me in allowing truth (satya) to flow and deepen my lifelong yoga studentship. I honour my ᓀᐦᐃᔭᐍ Nehiyawe (Cree) culture, by learning to speak Nehiyawe, sitting with Elders/Knowledge Keepers, and decolonizing myself by infusing spirit into everything. Psychology and Yoga have transformed my life. I love sharing my learnings, curiosities, and practices with anyone who would like to deepen their understanding of yoga and trauma-informed teachings. This school is dedicated to supporting students in integrating a trauma-informed yoga psychology approach and living authentically. From a nurturing attachment-based approach, we will explore how to integrate yoga and psychology, on and off the mat. As a psychologist & assistant professor, I have the privilege of destigmatizing mental health through offering accessible yoga, workshops, & contributing to academic literature/research #nerdalert Cannot wait to learn and, most importantly, unlearn, with you! With goodness, Dr. Melissa Jay (she/her) |
